Description:
This month we will have two parts to the program.

(1) Revit Shared Coordinates
It’s good practice in AutoCAD to determine a present building location (bottom left corner of the exterior wall or intersection of a gridline) to be located at the origin: 0,0. Often times, on Revit projects for some reason, we forget this important step and start drawing only to realize the chore of moving references around becomes a tedious mistake. This topic is geared to help you with the crucial step of setting up your project properly during the planning stages and to demystify the mysterious shared coordinates topic. We’ll cover:
– Locating Revit’s origin
– Project Base point vs. Survey point
– True North and project north
– Shared Coordinates best practices
– Import/Export/Linked references tests

(2) Revit 101 – Part 1
In this 1st part of a 2 part series, we’ll show you the basics of Revit. Part 2 will give you the opportunity to try it for yourself in a hands-on method. Whether you’re new to Revit or just need to review the fundamentals in order to build a solid foundation towards understanding how to put a building together in the world of 3D. This topic is designed to help you with step-by-step instructions to master the world of Revit before it consumes you. We’ll cover:
– Basic project setup
– Where to start modeling
– Families vs. Types
– Views and Annotations
– Tying everything together with Sheets

Seating is limited at this venue, so please RSVP by replying to rsvp@harug.org no later than 12:00 noon on Tuesday, October 11th so there can be an accurate count for food. As usual, Total CAD Systems, Inc. will generously provide pizza and refreshments!

Be part of a local community of Revit and BIM application users from beginners to experts. Get the most out of your software with access to our knowledge network. Since 2002, the Houston Area Revit Users Group (HARUG) has been the main resource in the area for Revit Users, AutoCAD Architecture (previously Architectural Desktop), AutoCAD and other BIM related tools.

HRUG welcomes a change of scenery. If you’re interested in hosting a user group meeting at your office/locale, please send an email to rsvp@harug.org.
